The 2021 Northern Virginia Senior Olympics are scheduled for September 18-29.
We expect to make the final decision about holding them by mid-April.
The NVSO Committee would like potential participants to know that we are thinking of you and that we are hopeful that the games can be held safely in 2021. As you can imagine our decision process is still in flux. We will continue to monitor all the factors associated with our ability to hold the games safely including guidance from the CDC, the State of Virginia, individual sports-governing bodies, trends on vaccinations, and planning decisions by State Senior Games Associations. Our ability to conduct the games will also depend on the position of the northern Virginia jurisdictions that sponsor the NVSO and the availability of venues that host various events (schools, pools, community and recreation centers, etc.), as well as the availability of volunteers who are essential to running the games.
Our mission is to promote health, fitness and psychological well-being for senior adults by providing opportunities for participation, competition, self-improvement and fellowship through various athletic and recreational events.
